Owen Wilson returns home from hospital following
his suicide attempt. The comedy actor appeared to have lost a lot of weight and had bruising under his eyes as he was dropped off at his house in Santa Monica, California. The Wedding Crashers star said he was happy that he had been “saved from himself”. But the 38-year-old actor, who took an overdose and slashed his wrists, is said to still be in “bad mental shape” and is on round-the-clock suicide watch. His brother, actor Luke, has been constantly by his side, along with their other brother Andrew, 43, who found Owen unconscious with cut wrists and an empty pill box by his bed a week ago. Their father Robert has also been looking after him. A source said:
“Owen is in bad mental shape but he has said he is thankful to be alive. He knows he came close to ending his own life, and he is happy that he was saved from himself. “He is at home with people watching him 24/7.” Wilson was said to be devastated after splitting with his girlfriend and former co-star Kate Hudson, and then seeing pictures of her kissing her new love, actor Dax Shepherd. Wilson, who has long battled a drug habit, was treated at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, where he was visited by friends including Woody Harrelson and director Wes Anderson. Doctors are satisfied he is coping with the trauma as long as he is watched by those close to him. He has pulled out of his next project, Tropic Thunder – in which he would have starred with his friend Ben Stiller – so that he has time to recuperate.
