Mel Gibson has turned down the chance to bring back Eighties cop movie Lethal Weapon.The actor was approached with an offer to reprise his role of manic law enforcer Martin Riggs with veteran star Danny Glover back as his partner Roger Murtaugh.But director Richard Donner — who directed all four Lethal Weapon movies — has revealed Gibson feels that a fifth Lethal Weapon could be too much of a shot in the dark.He explains, “I would like to think that Mel turned it down because I wasn’t involved because that would be the kind of thing he would do.”The project is pretty much dead in the water unless someone had the sense to come to me.”
