Mischa Barton was arrested Thursday morning for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol and possessing marijuana after sheriff’s deputies saw her car straddling two lanes of traffic. Mischa Barton says sheÂ’s quitting the Hollywood party circuit because sheÂ’s had enough of the two-faced, bitchy nature of other girls on the scene.The former ‘O.CÂ’ star says she wants to get away from the clubbing circuit and hopes to be taken more seriously as an actress.“When I got there [L.A.] I didn’t know anything about the business and you don’t make the best of friends. I’m a private person, you won’t find more than four or five true friends around me, ever,” she says.“[The tabloid persona] it is a persona. It’s not me. Mischa Barton learned the hard way last weekend that booze and pills don’t mix.

Attending a barbecue at her friend Masha Gordon’s L.A. home May 27, Mischa Barton suddenly fell ill after mixing antibiotics and a “s—tload” of alcohol, says a source close to the star.

Blogger Perez Hilton reported that recreational drugs may have been involved (the actress was photographed smoking what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette on May 20 in Cannes, France), but the source insists there was nothing “truly toxic” in her system.

But a party guest tells Us that Barton’s sickness was no less dramatic.

“Her face turned completely white, and she spent over 30 minutes in the bathroom,” says a party guest. “It was really scary.”

Things got so bad that the former O.C. star, 21, was rushed by ambulance to Sherman Oaks Hospital, where her family – including younger sister Hania, 19 – was waiting.

The O.C. actress is now “feeling much better,” according to her rep
