During the American Music Awards, Beyoncé was awarded the international artist award. This honor has only been given to very few artists that include Aerosmith, Led Zepplin, Michael Jackson and Rod Stewart. The award was presented by R&B singer, dancer, and actor Usher. Beyonce was teary eyed as she delivered her speech. She says,
“I am so blessed to wake up every morning and do what I love to do.” Furthermore, she says, “I don’t take it for granted. I’m so grateful, I’m so honored and I’m so humbled by this award.” Also, Beyoncé performed onstage with country band Sugarland with her top song “Irreplaceable.” The song was performed in a country/bluegrass arrangement which was the band’s publicist’s idea. Beyoncé expresses her thoughts on the collaboration. She says,
“A good thing about a good song is it can be played in any genre.” She also adds, “”I’m up for anything. I love it.” Though winning the international artist award, Beyoncé was unable to win any of her three nominations that night.
